Shuichi Saihara (最原 終一) is a student in the Ultimate Academy for Gifted Juveniles and a participant of the Killing School Semester featured in Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony. He's the playable character for Blackened.
Appearance[]
Shuichi's outfit is double-breasted and pinstripe, thin, grey stripes over a black uniform. His pants match his uniforms design, black with a pinstripe design to accentuate his long legs. His former school's emblem is on the breast pocket of his uniform, the pocket accentuated with a dull golden color to stand out from his generally dark, monotone uniform. Finally, his shoes are fashionable and comfortable dark blue loafers.

Kokichi Oma (王馬 小吉) is a student in the Ultimate Academy for Gifted Juveniles and a participant of the Killing School Semester featured in Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony. He is the opponent for Blackened.
Appearance[]
Kokichi is a young man with an innocent look and a rather refined face. He has a short stature, a thin build, and very pale skin. He has purple eyes and moderately long, wavy blackish purple hair, with the tips dyed a brighter purple.
He wears a white suit with multiple straps wrapped around his arms, and two straps hanging loosely around his legs. Apparently, his pants are made to look like a piece of punk fashion with bondage pelts, but they are actually just fake belts sewed to thicker part of the thighs. His shirt is ripped at the hem and the collar part of it is completely gone, and big parts of the uniform are fixed with metal clips. He has multi-colored buttons running down the middle of his shirt, with a few usually hidden under his scarf, and he has military badges on his right. His scarf has black and white spaces alternating exactly like a chessboard. He also wears two-colored black and purple slip flats, and as seen in the character design gallery, he appears to wear a white belt.

Monokuma (モノクマ) is a stuffed robotic bear and the self-proclaimed Headmaster of Hope's Peak Academy who instigates the Killing School Life featured in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. He shows up in the middle of Blackened.
Appearance[]
Monokuma is a bear whose whole face and body are divided by the center into two parts, which resembles the Yin-Yang symbol. Its right side is white and has the classic expression of teddy bear; While its left side shows a more sinister appearance. It is black, has a red, horizontal, jagged eye that resembles the Hope's Peak Academy logo and an evil smile.
Although it is completely divided into two opposite sides, the only parts of Monokuma that are not affected by the division in its area are the snout and the belly, since both remain white. He also has a large, obvious belly button on the underside of his belly. His protruding navel has an "X" shaped mark on it. Inside him, he has a lot of wires due to him being a robot and a bomb. Monokuma also comically has a tongue seen in various promo art and in Danganronpa V3.

Nagito Komaeda[]

Nagito Komaeda (狛枝 凪斗), is a student of Hope's Peak Academy's Class 77-B, and a participant of the Killing School Trip featured in Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair. He is the opponent for Fingers.
Appearance[]
Nagito is a tall, skinny young man with notably wide shoulders, sickly pale skin and light gray-green eyes with thick eyelashes. His hair is shoulder-length and naturally wavy, of an unnaturally pale pinkish off-white color that fades to white the closer to his scalp, and is described as looking like it "doesn't belong to a living person".
He wears a thin, knee-length dark green zipper coat with a jagged-cut tail, which he leaves unzipped. It has a red square pattern across the right shoulder, and a large, square-shaped '55' on the back, as well as two red drawstrings, threaded through the hood, hanging down on either side of his chest. Underneath, he wears a white scoop-neck T-shirt with a red design on the front, somewhat resembling two interlocking hooks. He wears plain black jeans, and a wallet chain with a skull charm, and pale brown shoes, each fastened by two zippers.

- His sprites were taken directly from Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair.
- His losing icon is also cropped from one of the artworks in that game.
- There is a 1/100 (picks between 1 and 100, if it chooses 5 it happens) chance of Nagito replacing Kokichi for the first part of Blackened according to an "OhNo" variable within the lua script for the song.

Midori (ミドリ) is a guest character from the free horror game Your Turn To Die. He is the opponent for Puppeteer.
Appearance[]
Midori has jade eyes and bright green, short and wavy hair that is styled in a rattail. His outfit consists of a black suit, red tie, and the same scarf the character Shin Tsukimi wears. He also wears a Floor Master collar. Parts of his body have been replaced with doll parts, while others still remain human.
