Zardy is the eponymous main antagonist of Zardy's Maze. He is a living scarecrow who wanders his cornfield, murdering anyone who dares to enter. His mod takes place as Boyfriend and Girlfriend enter the cornfield to play some music, when they find themselves face-to-face with Zardy.
Appearance
Zardy is a scarecrow with glowing yellow eyes and with what appears to be a piece of wood sticking out of his mouth. He wears a witch hat and mostly dark blue clothes: a short black poncho with gold touches, and tan colored boots. He wears brown gloves and is holding his signature hoe in his left hand, with a mic now attached to it.
During Bushwhack, Zardy's sprite is darkened significantly, and a yellow glow emits from his eyes and mouth, similar to a jack o'lantern.

Cablecrow
Cablecrow is one of the secondary antagonists encountered in Zardy's Maze. They are an animate scarecrow similar to Zardy. They take over for Zardy in the second half of Bushwhack.
Appearance
Cablecrow appears to have a sack covering their torso and head, they are both held down by rope, the head has markings resembling eyes, their mouth has a piece of cloth sticking out of it. Cablecrow also appears to be held up by a post, with arms nailed to the post. Their hands can stretch out to long lengths due to the cable in their hands and arms.

Gameplay Mechanics
Vines
- During Bushwhack, vines will appear that catch Boyfriend and prevent him from singing. They can be cut off by pressing a sequence of arrows that appears over Boyfriend's head. Hitting an incorrect arrow will drain some of Boyfriend's health, and the old sequence will be replaced with a new one.
Instant Death
- At roughly 2:30 during Bushwhack, Boyfriend will be caught by a vine while Zardy switches places with Cablecrow. Cablecrow will throw Zardy's hoe at Boyfriend, which results in an instant death if the player is not able to cut off the vines fast enough to avoid it.
Jumpscares
- If the player fails at any song, the opponent (Zardy or Cablecrow) will then jump scare the player before showing the game over screen.
Trivia
- The creator of Zardy's Maze, SwankyBox, is also one of the main creators of this mod.
- Zardy turning transparent is a reference on how the player (in Zardy's Maze) must use a flashlight to get rid of Zardy, which makes him transparent.
- The first song's name is based off of an achievement in Zardy’s Maze that is obtained by destroying a weed and leaving the maze during a custom challenge with all settings on max with no custom seed.
- Minus Zardy is female.[3]
- This also makes Minus Zardy the first official minus character to have something change besides her design.
- The update for the mod was teased on Twitter.
- The noise when the player plays both Foolhardy and Bushwhack is the sound from Zardy's Maze that alerts you if Pumpkin Jack is alerted.
- Many leitmotifs of Foolhardy can be heard in Bushwhack.
- There is gonna be a fanmade mod for Zardy which is "Zardy's Friday" where all of the characters Rattler, Pumpkin Jack, Brute, Zardy and Cablecrow are gonna appear with their own songs.[4] [5][6][7]
- Swankybox doesn't have a problem with Zardy and Cablecrow being shipped together.[8]
- Zardy's beta name, Zahrada, means "garden" in Czech.[9]
