VS Chara (stylized as V.S Chara or vs. Chara) is an Undertale-related mod created, composed and coded by s0kudo/Soku (formerly Hexar), submitted in April of 2021 and updated two years after. Currently, the mod has three songs and its old single song in Freeplay. At the moment, the story is still uncertain to tell.
Characters[]
Chara[]
“Should you choose to create this world once more. Another path would be better suited.”
ā Chara, second encounter
Chara is a main character of Undertale, and also serves as the main antagonist of this mod, they are the opponent of the songs Fallen and Tenacity.
Appearance[]
Chara is a short young human, apparently between childhood and/or pre-adolescence. They have light skin, slanted ears, and dark brown, slightly red, bowl-shaped hair with multiple bangs, accompanied by wide rosy cheeks. They wear a lime, long-sleeved shirt with a single yellow-peach stripe in the middle of it, along with a collar of their hair color; dark reddish-brown shorts with side pockets, long top shoes of same color, and a glowing blood-red microphone on their left hand, along with a similar kitchen knife. They keep a open and wide expression, with their dark brown eyes and ear-to-ear grin.
In their 1.0 version, Chara had significant changes in their appearance, such as their relatively greater height and common utensils. They have red eyes, faded and messy brown hair, round ears, small smile, without the presence of their rosy cheeks. Their shirt have lighter tones, with the ausence of a collar. Their shorts are a brownish black, along with black boots.
Trivia[]
- Although Chara is treated as the villain of Undertale, some of their actions say otherwise, as for example when they advise the player that perhaps another path is better to choose if they have completed a second genocide.
- However, some interpretations of the character in the first popular YouTube animations of the game ended up leaving this little-seen trait of the character as the spotlight of their personality.

Flowey[]

ā Flowey, first encounter.
Flowey is the first major character that you meet in Undertale, and also serves as the first opponent in his song Petals.
Appearance[]
Flowey has the appearance of a conscious yellow flower. He has a white androecium, six yellow petals, and a green stem. He can show various expressions and mimic other characters. His alternate poses show him with hollow dark eyes, white pupils and sharp teeth.

Frisk[]
“Frisk... Don't kill, and don't be killed, alright? That's the best you can strive for.”
ā Asriel Dreemurr, Epilogue Dialogue.
Frisk is the main protagonist of Undertale, and serves as the playable character in the songs Petals and Tenacity.
Appearance[]
Frisk is a short young human, apparently between childhood and/or pre-adolescence. They have yellowish skin, slanted ears, and dark brown, slightly purple, bowl-shaped hair with multiple bangs, accompanied by thick eyebrows that hide their eyes. They wear a light blue, long-sleeved shirt with two lilac stripes in the middle of it, along with a collar of their hair color; sky blue shorts with side pockets, dark reddish-brown long top shoes, and a pink microphone covered in a reddish glow. They keep a blank and motionless expression, without opening their mouth when "singing", except for their miss poses when there's a slight slant on their mouth and eyebrows.
Trivia[]
- The word "frisk" can mean several things:
- To "frisk" means to skip or leap playfully, or to pat down on someone, looking for a hidden item.
- "Frisk" is the Swedish and Norwegian word for "healthy," and the Danish word for "fresh."
- "Frisky" means "playful and full of energy."
- Frisk appears to be left-handed. Evidence includes:
- Holding the umbrella and glass of water using their left hand.
- The slicing attack animation curving to the right, implying that force was carried from the left to the right during the attack.
- Most fatality battle sprites display steep slashes from top left to bottom right, a pattern not commonly made by someone who is right-handed.
- However in the mod, he holds the microphone with his right hand

Gameplay Mechanics[]
Chara will use three gameplay mechanics during Megalo Strike Back, regardless of the version played.
- SAVE - Chara will summon a SAVE star, forcing Boyfriend to repeat certain parts of the song while active. , However, it isn't really a mechanic per se, but it's part of the song. Chara summoning the SAVE star is just an animation.
- Camera Control - Chara will control the screen, moving it closer to their face. They can perform this during Boyfriend's turn. During this time, Chara occasionally performs a special animation where they boast a maniacal, wide-open smile while facing the screen and pointing their knife at the player.
- Swapping - Chara switch sides with Boyfriend, putting him on the left side and themself on the right. However, the player's note row remains on the same side.
Trivia (General)[]
- Chara is a first for a lot of things. These include switching around the position of the characters, repeat the song verses and ending the song abruptly with a jumpscare. They're also the first character to have a winning icon.
- The regular miss noise gets replaced by the damage noise from Undertale.
- Megalo Strike Back was picked, because it's commonly associated with Chara, despite being Toby's song for an Earthbound fan-album, named "I Miss You - Earthbound 2012".
- Currently, several other leitmotifs and auditory references to other songs/characters can be heard, including Megalovania (0:40), Core/Another Medium (1:00), Trumpets from Undyne's themes (2:10), "...?" (Known more commonly as "Gaster's Theme", 3:30).
- This is the first song to change BPM in the middle of the song almost immediately, starting from 144 to 180, then back to 144.
- This mod originally started out as just a song by Rishimazza, with instructions on how a mod about it should be like.
- In the old background, there are weapons or pieces of clothing that are lying on the ground. These things reference characters in Undertale that you kill in the Genocide Route. These things include: Sans' hoodie and bones, Papyrus' scarf, Undyne's spear, Asgore's trident and Flowey's dead body, which reference each of the respective owners.
