Discontinued

dude what the fuck you killed Ayana - Boyfriend

The development or possible updates of this mod have been canceled, so a release of its new content is not expected. The reasons for this vary, such as: controversies, lack or loss of interest, the disappearance or lack of passion for the mod, or simply a lack of ideas.

Reason: A Full week for Ayana was in the works before being confirmed canceled after two years of radio silence.[1]

― Ayana, Something Spiteful

Ayana Santana is a mod-exclusive character created by RatNonFat for the cancelled Vs. Ex-Girlfriend mod. She originally served as a reskin of Mommy Mearest in Week 4, battling the Boyfriend with as much ferocity as Mommy Mearest, too. She used to not have any songs nor have much of anything until a mod completely revamped her.

Ayana was Boyfriend's ex from college. Recently hired by Daddy Dearest, instead trying to kill him, Ayana returned to hit on Boyfriend and try and win his heart back as she was still saddened over the breakup. Ayana's determined to split BF and GF apart so she can have him for herself again. Boyfriend now battles her to prove that he's, in fact, over her and that Girlfriend is the only one for him.

Appearance

Ayana has long, thick, messy, caramel brown hair, black eyes, tan skin and a beauty mark on the lower left side of her face. She wears a white tank top with an upside down red triangle on it, dark grey shorts with six golden buttons on the front, a black choker around her neck, black earrings and black heels with ankle straps and golden shanks (as seen in the mod's trailer) paired with semi-transparent stockings. In her left hand she holds her microphone and wears a black bracelet on her left arm and a golden bracelet on her right arm. She wears a confident expression, and has a confident pose along with her facial expression.

In the Red Snow level, she can be seen hanging out next to the Nightmare Cops while checking her phone. She wears a white sweater with a turquoise coat, an orange scarf, black leggings and brown boots with laces.

Trivia

  • In the official Friday Night Funkin' canon, Pico is Boyfriend’s only ex. That's not to take away that he's the ONLY ex Boyfriend ever had, hence why Ayana exists.
  • While it's not noticeable at first, Ayana wears ear studs.[3]
  • Before the mod being released, people first assumed that Ayana was GF's ex-mother. This was quickly debunked by RatNonFat.
  • The creator of the Mod revealed a potential design change in an update where she was intended to be much smaller, and fits the art style of Friday Night Funkin' more accurately.
  • Ayana appears in the background of Week 5 within her mod, a rare case where she fits without taking any of the cameos' places.
  • Ex-Girlfriend was renamed to Ayana in a later update.
  • The name “Ayana” was randomly chosen, because to quote RatNonFat in a reply to a comment, “In all honesty, I wanted to make her ethnicity as ambiguous as possible, but when it came to naming her, I had put it through 6 different name generators and after that, I just used a picker wheel to randomly select a name out of 10. I even spun the wheel twice and still got “Ayana” lol”.
  • In the idle pose, she freezes while her hair still moves.
  • It's currently unknown as to why or how Ayana and Boyfriend broke up in the first place. All that's been confirmed as of now is that Boyfriend was the one that broke things off.
    • Some of the possible answers fans have come up with as to being the definitive reason include, but aren't limited to:
      • Boyfriend wanting her and himself to see other people.
      • Boyfriend thinking that their relationship wasn't working out &/or wouldn't have worked out, even if it did so.
      • Ayana having possibly cheated on him for someone else.
      • Boyfriend wanting to focus more on his rapping career when he dropped out of college, dumping Ayana in the process.
  • Ayana is 5'5 (5'8 as she likes to wear heels).
    • She's around the same height as Boyfriend in this mod.
  • Although she is Boyfriend's ex, it seems that she's now becoming closer with Dalia. This could mean that, like her ex-boyfriend, she is bisexual.
    • Most fans also shipped her with either Tabi or A.G.O.T.I., but this isn't actually the case mainly due to how Tabi wants to kill his ex and how A.G.O.T.I. is simply chilling. In reality, they're just friends.
      • RatNonFat also confirmed that despite both Dalia's mod having been discontinued at that point, Ayana and Dalia would still be a couple as of now. If not, then she'd probably be kept single since her love life isn't important to anything else other than her lore with BF.
  • A short trailer was released, which confirmed a full replacement of Week 4 with Ayana, as well as a taller Boyfriend to fit with the rest of the characters and possibly cutscenes. It was to be programmed by GenoX.
  • One of the reasons as to why Ayana's mod was scrapped despite the original reskin mod released in January 2021 and the demo being released the following February was due to a low number of people working on it.[4]
    • The full week was also planned to release in March of 2021, but due to several other mods releasing at a rapid pace and the bar for FNF mods increasing with every passing day, the mod went back to the drawing board so that it can add more stuff to appeal to the people.[5]
      • This explains why the "(insert name here) mod got released before Ayana" joke is a recurring joke in the community.
  • Originally, Brother Brute was going to have a full week instead of Ayana, but the plan was scrapped due to his vocals being difficult to work with music genres as well as fear of his songs becoming repetitive way too quickly.[6]
    • He even had an official song ready, but this is unlikely to see the light of day.
  • All the sprites RatNonFat has made were drawn with Ibispaint. [7]
