This article contains potentially sensitive content that may be discomforting or upsetting to certain users. Viewer discretion is advised!
Reason: Labrat's appearance, Suicide Mouse, The Toons, and Costume all look disturbing, and could startle some viewers on their first playthrough. Suicide Mouse's titular creepypasta "suicidemouse.avi" can be unsettling to some, The Toons are from a fan-game called "Five Night's at Treasure Island" which involves characters hunting down a temporary replacement nightguard at "Treasure Island", and there is a new Pibby redesign for Mouse, and people may find Learning With Pibby somewhat disturbing due to The Darkness manifesting down the universe of cartoon shows and how it affects many beloved cartoon characters.
This article contains content that may bring users with past trauma, to something that might cause a physical and/or mental reaction. Viewer discretion is advised!
Reason: There's Suicide Mouse. The screen shakes during Labrat, Suicide (When Suicide Mouse laughs) and Insanity Psychosis. (When Suicide Mouse screams)

One or more of this mod's versions/download links are either withheld, on hold, privatized, or trashed and are no longer available. However, other appearances are still easily accessible.
Note: the alpha and beta versions were unreleased, the test version of the mod was removed due to Markus's idle being traced, and the 2.5 v1 build was removed because it was the 3.0 Alpha build but with less content, it was buggy, they used Olimac's music without permission, and had multiple leaks hidden in the files. The original link for the leaked 2.6 build was taken down as well.

Story
Markus
Girlfriend was searching for her Halloween hat with the help of Boyfriend. While they were doing that, a man was selling what seemed to be a Mickey Mouse cassette, so Girlfriend, curious, decided to buy and play it... After doing so, they are transported inside and, after looking around, they find Markus who challenges the blue-haired rapper to a rap battle. After losing, he gets mad and challenges him again. But...after he loses again, he snaps and turns into a twisted form, ready to kill them both!
Marko
After Repentence, Markus is about to kill Boyfriend when he is decapitated by another Mouse named Marko, who tries to help Boyfriend escape the Clubhouse.
Experiment
Experiment's story is currently unknown.
Mortimer
Before the encounter of Boyfriend, Mortimer had a very stressful life. He was dealing with a divorce, his friends left him for a dumb mistake, and had just made very poor choices. Things weren't going well for him. Then just one day, he decided to just ignore it and head to the store. After he paid for his things he had left to go home with his groceries. This is when he encountered Boyfriend. Mortimer thought it would be a good time with boyfriend, while also wanting to walk. You know, like walk and talk. Cut to Misery, and while it may not be shown, someone in the street really hated Mickey. Throwing the syringe you know causing Mickey to become worried. There was obviously something wrong but Mickey thought it was like nothing. Albeit being worried about the syringe. At the end of Misery, he goes insane. The liquid in the syringe was very unstable, so what Mickey was experiencing was the effects of the syringe. This would be explained in Happy Ride, Mickey losing teeth with his eyes popping out of his sockets due to the syringe. Due to everything that happened, Mickey became more unrecognizable. Insanity Psychosis was the final straw for Mickey. Breaking down for the lullaby part of Insanity Psychosis. Explaining the sitting position. Mickey snapped at the end of the lullaby, growing in size along with being changed from the Mickey once known. Mickey's voice becoming this heavy scratchy sound barely being able to walk. Going after Boyfriend due to rage. After the end of Insanity Psychosis, Mickey suddenly collapses, barely being able to crawl before dying. Melting into the ground, his groceries still with him.
Gameplay Mechanics
- Glove Notes: During Repentance and Labrat, these notes will appear. If missed, they will slowly drain Boyfriend's health.
- Syringe Notes: During Misery, these notes will appear, if hit, they will take away some of Boyfriend's health. If you press a note (Ghost tapping) while these notes appear, it counts as a miss for unknown reasons.
- Toodle Notes: During Crazy, these notes will appear. If hit, they will instantly kill Boyfriend, much like Tricky's Halo Notes in Expurgation and Accelerant (Fucked)
Trivia (General)
- Jara has revealed several highly private ideas and plans for the mod in its early life that were never shared with most members of the development team, such as:
- Around the final quarter of 2021, there were plans to include Alpha Mouse as a secondary opponent for Disk 1, similar to how, later in the first third of 2022, Marko was created as a secondary opponent for Disk 1. Art of Markus (known as Mouse at the time) and Alpha Mouse was actually created as promotional art foreshadowing his inclusion, but plans fell through and the idea was forgotten, but later brought back with the creation of Marko.
- An additional Disk 1 song was planned to be included in the mod's 2.0, but was not added due to time constraints. This song, which was confirmed to not be Revenge, Crisis, or The Mouse, was never shared by Jara. The name of this song is currently known only to Jara.
- There were plans to include cutscenes in the 2.0 release, but the idea was too late into development for them to be included or even finished.
- The original V2.5 is actually a almost entirely fake build with almost none of the og devs involved and is basically the 3.0 Alpha build but slightly different. this is mentioned in a tweet from around the release of it.
- In the 1.0 files, there is a song called Experiment, but it is the same song as Labrat. This later became The End
- In the 1.0/Test version of the mod, there was only one week called Disk-0.
- This week only had two songs being Welcome and Labrat, and used an older design of Mouse in Welcome.
- The mod had received a lot of complaints in the test version (1.0) due to Mouse's idle appearing to be traced or heavily referenced from promotional art of another mod, Friday Night Funkin' Disney Club. These accusations are what led to the redesign of Mouse's idle in the mod's 2.0 version.
- However, Mouse's left and right poses were still traced or heavily referenced from the same image in the 2.0 update.
- The Novatos Team original YouTube account was hacked by a user, so the team had to move to another channel, the User in question was the composer for the first version of Welcome and some of the other bad songs from the mod, which received negative comments for its low effort, which may explain why the user hacked the channel.
- Due to this, the original uploads of the old version of Welcome as well as an unfinished version of Crisis are lost.
- Insanity Psychosis is a reference to the game called Really Happy Mouse.
- At the end of Misery, the syringes are supposed to spell out "Insanity"
- This was misspelled as "Insanitt", while possibly being made as the letter "T" could say it's name.
- Markus and Taki share the same song name, with that being "Repentance" (Although Repentance Taki's week is scrapped and will not be used).
- Ulkarizers said that they would use all the designs from old versions of the mod and characters for secret songs in Freeplay in a similar fashion to Vs. Dave and Bambi.
- This obviously never ended up happening due to internal issues, along with the fact that not every design was finished or never even had poses created for it.
- Unlike most mods to change the "Time Era" (Example: Suicide Mouse), there are not any changes to Boyfriend's sprites. For example, Sonic.Exe's Green Hills change Boyfriend's sprites to a genesis redraw of themselves.
- This was changed in the 2.5 v2 update.
- This mod, Vs. Tord: Red Fury, Vs. Aflac share a song name, that being The End.
- Vs. Velma also used to have a song called The End, however it was just a cover of What's New and was probably removed.
- This mod and Vs. Aflac share a song called Crisis.
- This mod, along with Vs. SpongeBob Media, Shaggy x Matt and some other mods share a song name called Revenge.
- This mod is infamous for it's RIDICULOUS amount of scrapped designs, even having official memes of all the known scrapped designs going to heaven.
- This meme was also updated as the devs discovered more scrapped designs, but this halted around June of 2022 due to almost every design having been found.
- The unfinished chart of Misery in the Test/1.0 version that was trashed from Gamebanana was actually the chart of Welcome (Old).
- The 2.5 Misery Competition build has files from Vs. Sonic.Exe's 2.0 version.
- To play Misery in the Misery Competition build, you must change the stage, as otherwise, the mod will crash.
- For some reason, the 2.0 background for Disk 3 is still in the files of the 3.0 Alpha build and both 2.5 versions.
- At one point during development, Experiment was going to chase Boyfriend during the song "Hungry". About halfway through the song, Experiment's skull would come off and continue the chase, with a red "tail" coming from the bottom of the skull while they were floating after Boyfriend. Due to unknown reasons, this was scrapped.
- According to Scott, Labrat would not have poses while running or as the skull.
- There are animations of Mortimer pulling out and playing a piano, which were meant to be used during the piano sections of Olimac's Misery remake. Due to Olimac removing his music from the mod, these are now scrapped.
- During a QNA on the team's Discord server, Scott said that Markus is a bitch, Beta Mouse (referring to Marko at the time) is a chad, Labrat is a sigma, and Suicide Mouse is just sad.
- The reason for the Misery Competition build being released was that whoever FC'd Misery with video evidence and without altering the chart would get the 2.5 build early.
- What wasn't mentioned, however, was that the song was incredibly overcharted, making it incredibly difficult to FC.
- Despite having a story mode banner, the Original Suicide Mouse never went past the design phase, and none of his intended songs were ever made for him.
- His intended songs were named Negative Thoughts, Delusional Rage, and Last Sight.
- An OST button was made for the 2.5 release, but the idea was scrapped due to being too hard and time-consuming to code in.
- The OST button was meant to function similarly to how it does in Sonic Origins, as you would press a button and be able to listen to a song.
- Hungry, Welcome Back, and You Can't Run are the only songs in the mod that do not use a loading screen before the song starts playing.
- This is due to Boyfriend being the one that starts the song. You Can't Run is the only exception to this, likely due to its hasty inclusion in the mod.
- The designs of Boyfriend & Girlfriend from Vs. Juko were going to be included, but they were removed when JukoDuko left the team and requested for them to not be used.
- Despite Juko having returned to the mod team for a period of time, the designs are still not going to be used.
- The location of the background that was meant to be seen in the scrapped Disk 4 was where all of the experiments from the previous disks originated.
- The scrapped "Ready? Set?! Go!" graphics were scrapped after the decision to use loading screens since they would normally go unseen.
- All of Jukoduko's designs for the mod were made with the program "Scratch".
- Due to time constraints, the Markus design made by JukoDuko appears in the main menu of 2.5 v2 despite his third redesign being used in-game and a replacement graphic having been made.
- Prior to being moved to Smile Sunrise, Magrolo was going to sing Cheddar. Evidence for this can be found in the Misery Competition build, as the song's folder is named "magrolo".
- Surprisingly, despite not appearing in the Minigames menu, the song is still in the files of the 2.5 v2 version.
- Despite some of his art being used in 2.5 v2, JukoDuko goes uncredited.
- There were plans for a "2.0 Redux" to be released for Vs. Mouse's 1 year anniversary. However, due to Scott being the director for it, it was canceled when he was fired.
- JukoDuko, the lead artist for the project, stated that Valerange's Welcome and SansPZSG's Disk 3 songs were to be included, along with two Disk 2 songs to be composed by SansPZSG.
- There was never a build or any coding done for the project at the time of its cancellation.
- Supposedly, Markus, Marko, Marky, and Beta Mouse all have the IQ of a coffee table.
- There was planned to be an option to select alternative skins, where you could choose between GonFNF's, JukoDuko's, and Frog_Simp's designs, but it was scrapped due to being too time-consuming and difficult to implement.
- The first idea for a Disk 4 was a FNaTI themed week, though it was scrapped very early on.
Cameos in other mods
Note: None of these cameos are canon to Vs. Mouse's story.
- In Vs. Sonic.EXE, during the song Personel, a snippet of the infamous Welcome (Old) can be heard.
- In Sunday Night Suicide, the Suicide Mouse from Vs. Mouse was going to be a guest character in the song "Mickey Mayhem" as the playable character, but due to the controversies of Ulkarizers and Star_Lyt giving Shipy the role of director, the song was discarded and the crossover was only left as a concept. Markus appears in the song "mouse mockery" (Only in the troll build).
- In Vs. Mick, Markus was to appear in the song "Demise", but this crossover was moved to be with Vs. Mouse Ultimate with both mods having their own version of the song.
- In Cognitive Crisis, Mortimer was to appear in the song "Cast and Crew".
