Hex is AI created by YingYang48. He is a robot with a monitor for a face that can replicate various images. He appears in his own mod, VS. Hex, as the main opponent, that Boyfriend has to battle.
Appearance
Hex's head resembles a television or a monitor and has two mangled antennas on top of it, a black screen and a smiling cyan face displayed on a screen. Hex has grey metal in place of skin, complete with black bolts that secure his limbs together and square, flat featureless feet.
He wears a white sleeveless basketball shirt with an orange number 16 symbol imprinted onto it, orange shorts with white stripes, and he goes around barefoot. He holds an orange mic upwards in his left hand, while his right hand rests on his hip.
During the final song of Week X: Glitcher, he slouches with his hands on the side of his head. His face changes from dizzy and scared to a single red eyeball outline, The eye of IRIS Co. Ltd. The reason for this is because Iris was unable to fully take control of Hex's motherboard, and Hex is trying to fight it off. Thankfully, he succeeded, as evident by the existence of Encore, the final song which is unlocked when the player completes Glitcher. As seen in Hex's backstory on Twitter it was also indirectly confirmed that he managed to survive the events of Glitcher and is now best friends with Whitty and Carol.
During the final song of Weekend X: Detected, IRIS has fully taken control of Hex. The IRIS' Eye has its pupil shrunk and looks like it is shocked.
Biography
Hex was created when a lonely Rich Guy commissioned a high-robotics company to build a companion for him.[10] The company researched new features for the prototype bot, and eventually named the robot Hex.[11] Unfortunately, the CEO of the company got greedy when he realized the new features could make them tons of money if they mass produced such solutions to mainstream robotics. The CEO would later terminate the commission without Rich Guy's knowledge.[12]
Hex would later be deemed obsolete, have his power drained from him, and be put in a storage unit. Luckily for him, he was placed under a window, making his solar panels pick up energy.[13] When he woke up, he escaped his storage unit and hid somewhere nearby. Meanwhile, Rich Guy would find out the commission had been terminated, leaving him disappointed.[14] However, while heading home, he would find Hex in a bad condition. Once he realized that Hex was the robot he commissioned, he would take him home and they would be close pals.[15] While living together Rich Guy and Hex would do activities together such as basketball and karaoke.
Eventually, as years went by, Rich Guy passed away, leaving Hex with a ton of money but with no friends. This would leave Hex to engage in multiple activities to find people who would want to be friends with him.[16] He would later join a basketball team since it was one of his favorite things to do with Rich Guy before he died.[17] Despite all of this, Hex didn't have anyone he could truly consider a buddy. For example, another activity he would do with Rich Guy was karaoke. Since he died, Hex stopped singing. That is, until he met Boyfriend at the park.[18] Thanks to the events of the Hex mod, Hex became friends with Whitty and Carol.[19]

- IRIS in no way shape or form is related to Updike, both YingYang and sock have discussed this and have firmly stated IRIS has nothing to do with the Greater Good.
- Hex loves to bake and his favorite thing to bake is banana bread.
- He has no need to set a timer as his processor can automatically count every second.
- Hex's favorite band is Daft Punk. In fact, he thinks that the members of Daft Punk are robots like him, and is unaware that they are humans wearing robot-like clothes.[20]
- In a Twitter post, Hex and Whitty are confirmed to be close/best friends.
- Hex's name comes from "hexadecimal",[21] otherwise known as base sixteen, which is a format for using digits from 0 to F used in computing.
- This is why his jersey reads '16'.
- Hex is a big fan of Hatsune Miku[22]and can even be seen in the audience in her mod.
- Despite Hex being portrayed as a chill person, he can get angry.[23][24]
- Hex runs on Microsoft's Windows 10, thus why in Glitcher on his face/monitor, there is a Windows 8/8.1/10 ":( " BSOD, but the background is probably a Windows XP-7 BSOD.
- BSOD is the abreviation of Blue Screen Of Death, the screen that appears when a critical error happens in most Windows devices.
- Boyfriend canonically mentions Whitty in Week X in a dialogue when the week starts (before the first song). Whitty's name can also be found in the background of every song, however is almost barely visible in Glitcher.
- This is the first instance of a mod character making a cameo in mods other than their own.
- Oddly, prior to the weekend update, the sprite sheet for normal Hex with the lighting from Glitcher can be found.
- This could also have possibly been meant for Encore.
- This is one of the first mods where Boyfriend speaks English.
- Whenever Hex sings, his head shows the arrow he presses when singing.
- As Hex's sprites were originally over Daddy Dearest's, his left pose only has 1 frame. But in Glitcher, this is changed, as he has a new sprite sheet.

Gameplay Mechanics: Detected
Detected has IRIS release Hex's full power, unlike in Glitcher. IRIS' Power can control the highways in crazy ways similar to Expunged's Control in Cheating and Unfairness. Here is a list on what happens to the highways in Detected.
- Turn 1: Each lane moves up and down in a wave pattern.
- Turn 2: Every 4 beats, the notes spin and fly to the top or bottom and come out the other side. This catches many players off guard.
- Turns 3-6: The notes move in a wave pattern to the right, coming back to the left when they hit the right edge of the screen.*
- Turn 7: The left/up and down/right lanes alternate jumping over each other. Every 4 beats, the direction reverses.†
- Turn 8: The left/down notes and up/right lanes rotate independently. Every 4 beats, the direction of rotation reverses.†
- Turn 9: The two highways merge. The highway moves down and then teleports back up so that notes only move once per beat.†
- Turn 10: Same thing, but with upscroll.†
- Turn 11: Same thing, but arrows move to the right.†
- Turn 12: The two highways separate but slowly merge again.†
- Turn 13: The notes fade out as they approach the strikeline. The idle singer's highway fades out.
- Turn 14: A combination of turns 2 and 13. The idle singer's highway fades out.
- Turns 15-18: The highways separate. A repeat of turns 3-6.*
- Turn 19: Turn 7, but every 4 beats, in addition to reversing the jump direction, the game switches from upscroll to downscroll and vice versa.†
- Turn 20: The highways alternate between merging and separating while the left/down and up/right pairs swap places every few beats.*
- Turn 21: Turn 9 but the strikeline also leans to the left and right, swapping every beat.*
- Turn 22: Turn 21 but with upscroll.*
- Turn 23: Repeat of turn 21.*
- Turn 24: Turn 21 but the notes move to the left.*
- Turns 25-27: The game switches between upscroll and downscroll. The highway flips into the new direction slowly, which is intended to disorient the player. The highways start to merge at the end of the turn.*
- Turns 28-32: Turns 3-6, but upscroll on Hex's turns and downscroll on Boyfriend's turns.*
- Turn 33: The arrows move to the center and move in a circular, carousel-like motion before falling off the screen. (there are no notes in the player's highway)
*Hex's highway is transparent, which helps the player identify their own.
