Shinobi Scramble is a mod made by Juno Songs adding one new week. A second week is currently in development and will be coming out soon.
Plot[]
While vacationing in Japan, Boyfriend and Girlfriend, stranded in the rain after they missed the last train of the night, chance upon what they think is a hotel - but trouble ensues when they quickly learn that it is instead a ninja hideaway! It's time to sing your way out of this mess, but be warned - the ninja within wield blades as sharp as their tongues!

Appearance[]
Shuri is a kunoichi with long, spiky orange hair. She is clad in an orange and brown open-necked uniform with puffed sleeves and baggy pants. Around her waist is a gray obi, upon which is fastened an ornamental throwing star via a scarlet cord, tied in a bow on her back. She wears gray mesh stockings, as well as orange leggings and brown sandals.
Shuri wields a kunai in one hand and carries her shakuhachi in her other. When she plays, she holds the kunai by putting her fingers through the loops so she can cover the holes on her shakuhachi.
Personality[]
Shuri is energetic, rash, and quick to jump to conclusions, as she immediately assumed Boyfriend and Girlfriend were assassins. She's also a crier, tearfully calling Ken for help upon her defeat after "Kunai." She is heavily guarded and somewhat aggressive, though if her suspicions are proven unfounded, she's quick to be humbled. She has a fondness for cute things, and once she and Ken are on friendly terms with Boyfriend and Girlfriend, she acknowledges how "adorable" their relationship is.

Appearance[]
Ken is a kunoichi with short, dark magenta hair that covers her right eye. Two small locks of hair, one of which is shaped like a crescent moon, sprout from the top of her head. The right side of her face is covered with bandages, presumably to hide a missing eye. She wears a pink uniform outfitted with a long loincloth, as well as purple shorts underneath, pink leggings, and open-toed sandals. Like Shuri, Ken wears a gray obi with an ornamental throwing star around her waist, resting just beneath her bosom. On her back, she carries a large drinking gourd, which is tied to her body via thick purple ropes.
Ken wields a katana, the scabbard for which is strapped to the right side of her hip. She is ambidextrous, seen wielding her blade with both her left and right hand in the songs she appears in. In her other hand, she carries her shamisen, which she plays with a gray pick in "Katana" and with her blade in "Shuriken."
Personality[]
Ken is calm, collected, and serious, though not immune to being surprised or amused. Between the two of them, Ken is more mature and is very protective of Shuri and the ninja hideaway. However, once she lets her guard down, she is much more cordial and reasonable with Boyfriend and Girlfriend, willing to strike a deal with them allowing them to visit the hideaway as much as they wish, provided they don't spread its existence around.

Kunai Notes[]
Kunai notes.
Kunai that are thrown by Shuri; they come in all four arrow varieties. These notes must be hit in order for Boyfriend to dodge them. Missing a kunai results in Boyfriend taking damage for half his health. Kunai notes appear in "Kunai" and "Shuriken."
Katana Notes[]
Katana note.
Ken's katana. All four keys must be hit at once in order for Boyfriend to completely parry a strike. Missing any part of the katana reduces Boyfriend's health by 25% for each note missed. Katana notes appear in "Katana" and "Shuriken."
Caltrops[]
A caltrop note.
Caltrops that are scattered throughout the chart in "Shuriken." These notes must not be hit. Hitting these notes causes Boyfriend to yelp and grab his foot, taking a little bit of damage.

- Shuri and Ken's names come from the word "Shuriken" split into 2, similarly to how WarioWare's Kat and Ana derive from the word "Katana."
- Coincidentally, both "Shuriken" and "Katana" are names of songs for Shuri and Ken's week.
- Ken's name may also have been chosen for the fact she wields a sword, as "ken" is Japanese for "sword."
- "Otousan no Tatakai" is Japanese for "Dad Battle", which is one of the songs in the original Friday Night Funkin'.
- "Iyada!" is a Japanese exclamation of disgust, and the closest parallel to "Ugh," the name of the track from the original Friday Night Funkin' it is based off of.
- Part of "Kunai" is inspired by the music that plays in Ninja Hideaway, a race track from Mario Kart Tour.[3]
- "Shuriken" is one of the few songs to depict Boyfriend holding Girlfriend in his arms.
- One of the first few mods to do this was Starlight Mayhem.
- However, unlike the aforementioned mod, this used the vanilla FNF Week 7 sprite rather than the Closer Together sprite.
- After the 1.1.1 update, this was removed in order to respect the Week 7 asset embargo.
- Shuri and Ken's color scheme was taken from the lesbian pride flag, establishing their romantic relationship. This is lampshaded in the FAQ on the mod's release video.[4]
- Shuri and Ken's relationship has a sort of a sun/moon motif.
- Even though they're dating, if Shuri and Ken were to get married, they would keep their last names because of the meanings behind them.
- The ninjas in the background are called Bopping Ninjas.
- Even though they live in an ancestral home and guard it with their lives, Shuri and Ken do live a modern lifestyle with technology and whatnot.
- An upcoming week is set to be based around Obon, or the Bon Festival.
- Obon is a Japanese Buddhist custom to honor the spirits of one's ancestors.
- During Katana, Boyfriend is forced to defend first, while Ken is the one who repeats the pattern of evoking the idea of an ambush. Juno confirmed this to be similar to the Vantage skill in Fire Emblem.[5]
- This skill allows the user to attack the foe first if that foe initiates combat on it. It's usually learned by Myrmidons, which are a sword class.
- Shuri owns two handguns. She shoots homophobes and racists with them.[6]
- Juno jokingly called this "gun-jutsu," and although it brings disgrace to the ninja way, it's still worth every bullet.
- What's ironic about this is that some ninja actually used firearms, which were introduced to Japan in the mid-1500s.

- Minus Shuri is still a ninja, but is also a futakuchi-onna. Her head mouth plays her shakuhachi now.[7]
- Minus Ken is an oni. The shamisen is turned into a big club, which she dual-wields alongside her sword.
- Just like the original couple, Minus Shuri and Minus Ken are a couple.
- Shuri's new idle pose is based off the idle pose of Valentine from Skullgirls.[8]
- Shuri and Ken practice Mochitsuki, a New Year's tradition where you pound rice to make mochi.
- If Shuri and Ken were to spot a homophobe/transphobe, they would immediately destroy them.[9]
