This mod is on the golden throne! It has more than 1,000,000 views on its download page and can be considered one of the best and most remembered mods in the Friday Night Funkin' community!

Reason: This mod has been, is, and most likely always will be immensely praised and cherished by the FNF community. This is because not only does it feel like something that would come out of the base game, it pays great tribute to Newgrounds, the very thing that inspired Friday Night Funkin' to begin with! Also, the Eduardo meme got so popular that it made Matt Hargreaves (the current owner of the Eddsworld series) notice the mod.

Challenges are custom songs exclusive to Friday Night Funkin’ ONLINE VS. As of now, there are currently five challenges: Accelerant, Unloaded, Challeng-Edd, Roadkill, and Anywhere, USA, each with their own opponents and two difficulties.

Overall Mechanics - Fucked Difficulty

After clearing a challenge on Hard difficulty, the player unlocks Fucked difficulty for that challenge. Fucked difficulty acts like almost every extra difficulty on mods, as it increases the number of notes and sometimes adds more gimmicks. Clearing a challenge on Fucked unlocks a different character than if the player cleared it on hard. All changes or exclusive gimmicks in Fucked difficulty will be underlined.

Events

Accelerant

The Accelerant event is the first timed challenge to come out for the Online vs mod. The challenge is based off of the Madness Combat Newgrounds game under the same name, Accelerant. Released in update 0.2, it had taken place over 9/14/21-XX/XX/XX (Originally meant to last till 9/22/21, but was extended) in celebration of Madness Day 2021. In this challenge, BF duels against Hank J. Wimbleton in a rap battle. During the song though, a familiar foe decides to crash in well.

Completing the challenge normally will reward the player with Hank.
Completing the challenge in "Fucked" will reward the player with Mag Hank.

Overview

In any difficulty other than Fucked difficulty, after Hank shoots Tricky off a cliff, A.A.H.W agents and grunts will come from where Tricky fell, but they will be shot by Sanford and Deimos
In Fucked difficulty, after Hank shoots Tricky off the cliff, Tricky will come back in his Hellclown form from where he fell, Sanford and Deimos will shoot Tricky everytime Hank attempts to shoot Boyfriend.

Characters

Were you looking for the High Effort Hank mod, or the Hank J. Wimbleton reskins?

leton Hank J. Wimbleton, also called simply Hank is the main protagonist of the t Madness Combat series and the main opponent of Accelerant. Hank's challenge is unlocked by reaching the rank of "Exaggerated Swagger".

In the Madness Combat Series, Hank first appears as a blank character or more commonly known as a Grunt. Throughout the series, Hank goes on a genocide murdering multiple Grunts in order to complete a task. However, the injuries on his body caused himself to become bandaged, until he is seen in his most popular design within Madness Combat 7: Consternation. In the MAG form (Unlocked by clearing Accelerant on F*cked), he assumes his appearance from Madness Combat 11: Expurgation, in which he has a large, spiky, charcoal-colored arm. He also assumes minor changes in his style, to fit the art style of the Accelerant (song) design.

Appearance

Hank wears bandages covering all of his head except his face. He wears a black bandana over those bandages on the top of his head. He wears red lensed glasses and a black face mask over his "mouth". On his body, he wears more bandages covering almost his whole body with a spot where it isn't covered, revealing a shirt with what is presumably and visibly a face on it. He wears a black trench coat over his body and just like almost every other Madness Combat character, has grey shoes.

Hank

Not to be confused with TFATM Tricky or FNM's Tricky

Tricky The Clown is a zombie-fied clown from the Madness Combat series. Like all other zombies from MC, he has green skin and exposed teeth, and his gums and jaws tear through his skin. In this mod he takes on his appearance during Madness Combat: Accelerant before he engages demon mode. He wears a mask with 2 eye holes, and a giant hole on the bottom. In the mod, he wears a beige tunic. He holds his signature weapon, a stop sign, but this time, it still has its base on, and is red, unlike the gray original.

Appearance

He wears an iron slab hockey mask and shakes slightly due to the Improbability Drive. He holds a stop sign. In his demon form, due to the Improbability Drive being turned on to its full power, he is transformed into a gigantic flaming-red demon, with all of his body, including his hair becoming made of fire, except for his hands and head. His head becomes a monstrous, inhuman skull, and he has pure white eyes, along with a new set of large, sharp teeth, as well as having claws on his hands.

Mechanics - Tricky entrance, bullet and fire notes

  • Bullet Notes: In "Accelerant", Hank spawns bullet notes for the player to hit. If missed, Boyfriend loses half of his health, and also temporarily gets drained. Missing bullet notes insta-kills the player on Fucked.
  • Fire / Halo Notes: When Tricky shows up in "Accelerant", he will send out the fire notes from his mod. Like in the original Tricky mod, the player must avoid pressing these notes or else they will lose a large chunk of health. Fucked difficulty replaces these with Halo notes, which insta-kills the player if pressed. They also stay even after Tricky gets shot off as he reappears.
  • HP Lever: In "Accelerant", A lever will appear above the HP bar when Tricky shows up, draining Boyfriend's HP constantly for the rest of the song.

⚠️ CONTENT WARNING ⚠️

This article contains potentially sensitive content that may be discomforting or upsetting to certain users. Viewer discretion is advised!

Reason: Hank's voice is screechy, also Tricky still uses his original voice from The Full Ass Tricky Mod

Trivia

Hank

  • Hank originates from Madness Combat by Krinkels.
  • Hank is one of the few modded characters that has a different-colored microphone.
  • Hank appeared in the game trailer as an upcoming playable character.
  • Despite all characters in Madness being shown as male, all characters are actually genderless shown in a Q&A answered by Krinkels.
    • However, Hank is referred to as "they" in the description of Madness Combat 9.5, in addition to he/him. They are also called "they" in Nexus 2.
    • The Q&A had also revealed that;
      • Hank has "dabbled in real estate."
      • Hank is ambidextrous.
      • Hank is bald.
      • Hank likes to dance.
      • Hank was influenced by The Terminator, Blade and the Grammaton Clerics.
      • Hank is the tallest compared to Sanford and Deimos.
      • Hank was a volleyball tryout and really wanted to become one, but Krinkels says that the universe "had other plans".
        • Hank was also mentioned in a list of volleyball tryouts in Madness Combat 4: Apotheosis at the area with a corner leading to where the vending machine is located and the entrance towards the underground area where Tricky was at.
  • In MashProTato’s title screen Hank’s dance is a reference to the ending to Madness Combat 1 where he celebrates his victory by dancing to DJ Birdie Chicken Dance.
  • His metal plate jaw comes from his defeat in Madness Combat 5: Depredation where his head gets pulled off by Tricky, who replaces his lost lower jaw with a metal plate before reviving him.
    • There is a fan theory that states that the metal plate within his head is actually an improbability drive, although this theory has not been confirmed.
    • Another fan theory is that the metal plate is the part of Tricky's mask that was cut off during Madness 5.
  • Hank has 692 kills throughout the entire Madness Combat series.
    • He was behind at least 48% of the kills in the Madness series.
  • Hank has died 10 times throughout the series, most of which he is resurrected by "The Higher Powers."
    • The Higher Powers is/are the one(s) to not only resurrect most of the characters but also give them plot armor according to Krinkels.
  • Hank is the only character in the Madness Combat series that has a full name.
  • Hank, after he died in Madness Combat 7, was revived from a machine that made him bigger, stronger, and he now has a large, red arm that can create bolts of lightning.
    • The inspiration behind his arm was a game called "Die By The Sword". In particular, it was based off an enemy design.
      • Krinkels also said that he liked Asymmetrical character designs.
  • When Krinkels was asked if Hank would kill Sanford, Deimos, and 2BDamned, when he is ordered to, Krinkels replied with: "Hank is very good at his job."
  • Hank's appearance changes almost every episode except Madness Combat 2: Redeemer, Madness Combat 10: Abrogation, and partially in Madness Combat 9.5 because it takes place right after Hank died in Madness Combat: 7: Consternation.
    • In addition, he has also gone through the most costume changes.
  • The only episodes Hank isn't seen dead are Madness Combat 1 and in Madness Combat 10: Abrogation.
    • He is also not seen dead in a few non-canon Madness episodes, Incident: 001A and Incident: 100A.
    • The only episodes where Hank has not died after being revived are Madness Combat 6: Antipathy and Madness Combat 9: Aggregation.
  • Hank works for an ambiguous and mostly unknown group of entities called "The Employers", who give his assignments and things to do for them, such as freeing Sanford and Deimos from an AAHW prison in the beginning of Madness: Project Nexus (Classic).
    • The Employers are also sometimes referenced by other characters, as seen when MERC soldiers accused Sanford and Deimos for working for the Employers, even though the two haven't even heard of them beforehand.
    • The concept art of the Employers resembles one of Hank's enemies, The Auditor. This implies that the Auditor may be one of them.
      • This was later confirmed by Krinkles in an art stream.
    • The Employers seem to be godly entities, similarly to the Higher powers. this is further implied when Phobos tried to become one and stated that he was achieving "Godhood" by doing so.
    • The Employers seem very similar to another similar group with the same name from the Half-Life series.
  • The "J." in Hank's name stands for "Motherfucker", according to Krinkels himself in multiple Madness Combat Discord servers, making his full name: "Hank Motherfucker Wimbleton". How? This is a series where zombie clowns become giant fire monstrosities. Don't question things.

In-song

  • Hank's idle animation is based off his appearance in the trailer for the original Friday Night Funkin'.
  • Hank's vocals are similar to that of Austin's vocals.
  • In the files, Accelerant is actually just a modified Final Destination chart.
    • Accelerant itself is named after a flash game, named lerant Madness Accelerant, where the player plays as Hank, taking down a demon Tricky the Clown, which also inspired the color pallette for Tricky's Hellclown form.
  • Tricky knocks Girlfriend off the speakers, coming in by complete surprise, marking the first time an opponent comes in uninvited, aside from Bambi in Splitathon.
    • Girlfriend soon walks back in with a hot dog.
  • Girlfriend also gets aimed at by Sanford and Deimos, shown as a red dot appearing on her forehead, as she raises her arms up as a somewhat reference to Week 7.
    • Strangely, though Sanford and Deimos are aiming at Girlfriend from behind, the red dot appears on her forehead, which would only be possible if they were aiming in front of her.
    • Tricky is also aimed at similarly when he appears.
  • Bullet notes are similar to yellow lightning bolt-shaped notes of Friday Night Funkin' HD.
  • After Hank shoots Tricky off the speakers, Grunts, ATP Engineers, and 1337 Agents climb up and look over, only to get shot by Sanford and Deimos and fall over.
  • Accelerant also adds two new difficulties over Easy and Hard, while making Hard the normal difficulty: "Baby", and "Fucked" (Fucked is unlocked once the player beats the song on Hard)
  • In the Fucked difficulty, Tricky comes back in his HELLCLOWN form.
    • Sanford and Deimos shoot at Hellclown Tricky whenever Hank tries to shoot at Boyfriend for the rest of the song.
  • Originally, the A.T.P. Engineers bled out the same-colored blood as everyone else, even though they bleed out yellow blood in the series. This was soon patched out in the 9/16/21 update.
  • The helicopter that Sanford and Deimos arrived in is a reference to Madness Combat 6.5, where they flew in the exact same helicopter.
  • Accelerant is the only Challenge song to have any mechanics on Hard difficulty.

Unloaded

The Unloaded event is the second timed challenge to come out for the Online VS mod. The challenge is based off of a Pico animation under the same name. It was released in Update 0.3.9, along with the Challeng-EDD challenge lasting from 1/30/22-6/1/2022. In this challenge, Pico, Nene, and Darnell rap and fight off a hoard of Uberkids.

Completing the challenge normally will reward the player with an Überkid.
Completing the challenge in "Fucked" will reward the player with Darnell and Nene.

Overview

No matter the difficulty, Pico, Darnell and Nene are shown fighting aganist the Überkids. Mid-way during the song, Pico will start break-dancing, killing multiple Überkids and releasing a bus killing another Überkid similarly to the original Pico Unloaded video. However, Pico runs out of ammo at the end of the song, so he uppercuts the last Überkid also like the Pico Unloaded ending.

Characters

The Uberkids are the main opponents of Unloaded and recurring antagonists in the Pico series. They are introduced as clones from the Human Genome Project in "Pico V.S. Überkids" and have since been established as expendable enemies in the "Mindchamber" game and short "Pico Unloaded".

Appearance

The Überkids appear to have short, light brown hair straightly cut down the bottom, and white eyes. They wear blue shirts, blue pants, and light blue shoes.

Trivia

  • The Überkids' voice is a heavily edited version of Pico's voice from the base game.

Gallery

Pico is the playable character of Unloaded and the eponymous protagonist of the series with the same name.

Appearance

Pico's appearance remains mainly the same to his appearance in the base game, with the exception of him holding two Uzis in both hands instead of one Uzi and a microphone.

Trivia

  • Pico's regular idle takes inspiration from his Week 7 appearance on the stage.

Gallery

Darnell is a background character of Unloaded.

Appearance

Darnell has tall, black hair which swipes up in a sharp arc to the left, and white sclerae with no pupils as a stylistic choice. He wears a purple shirt with bright yellow sleeves and dark blue trousers. He also wears whitewashed sneakers with blue soles.

Gallery

Nene is a background character of Unloaded.

Appearance

Nene has slanted white eyes and short, black hair with a pink headband. She wears a pink overall skirt with a lighter pink, long sleeve shirt underneath, light pink socks and pink shoes with heart decorations on the sides.

    • In addition, it's the only challenge to unlock more than one playable character for beating it on the Fucked difficulty.
  • At 1:06 minutes into the song, a leitmotif of Pico plays from the base game.
  • The Überkids' voice is actually a heavily edited version of Pico's voice.

Challeng-EDD

The Challeng-EDD event is the second timed challenge to come out for the Online vs mod. The challenge is based off of the animated series Eddsworld. It was released in Update 0.3.9 along with the Unloaded challenge lasting from 1/30/22-6/1/2022. In this challenge, Boyfriend sings a song with Edd, where absolutely no unexpected guest will come in and ruin their time.

Completing the challenge normally will reward the player with Edd.
Completing the challenge in "Fucked" will reward the player with Tord.

Overview

In any difficulty other than Fucked, Eduardo, Jon, and Mark will interrupt Edd and Boyfriend with Eduardo being the singer.
In Fucked difficulty, Tom doesn't come outside the house as usual due to him leaving the house during The End (Part 1). Later on, when it is supposed to switch to Eduardo, Jon, and Mark, the floor will instead begin to tremble and Tord appears with his giant robot with Tom appearing at the same time. At the end of the song, Tom will shoot Tord with his harpoon gun like in the original episode.

Characters

Were you looking for a different Edd?

Edd is the main opponent of Challeng-EDD, the main protagonist of Eddsworld and is the avatar and animated counterpart of the late Edd Gould (1988-2012).

Appearance

Edd has straight brown hair with points in some parts and wears a green hoodie with laces and brown pant or khakis. Edd's shoes are white and green with laces. He wears a white "Smeg Head" shirt under his hoodie. In his game over animation, he is mostly seen holding a Coke soda can.

Trivia

  • Edd is the only character in the mod to help Boyfriend in his rap battle.
    • Alien Hominid is the second, but it's exclusive to the Fucked difficulty and he doesn't sing.
  • Edd was the artist.
  • Edd loves cola.
  • Edd's always trying to make a pun.
    • This might be due to his linguistic EDD-ucation. (EddOnlineVSIcon Edd: That's terrible.)
  • Edd may or may not know to draw a pineapple.
    • This caused a major issue on Tom's lore, as seen in "25ft Under the Seat," Tom is shown having a watermelon as a father. However, in "Fun Dead," Tom is shown having a pineapple as a father, causing many fans of the Eddsworld series to be confused.
  • Edd has a lucky can, which is just a random cola can he found with a chain impaled through it.
  • He met Matt in primary school. Matt and Edd were both bullied, but they loved drawing.

Gallery

Were you looking for 3mans_banana's Eduardo?

Well well well.
― Eduardo

Eduardo is a secondary opponent of Challeng-EDD (NeighBORES Mix). He is the neighbor and rival of Edd. He, alongside Jon and Mark, only appear in the "Hard" difficulty of Challeng-EDD.

Appearance

He has a resemblance to Edd, the differences being Eduardo having a different-styled chin, peach fuzz facial hair and a dark green button-up shirt with a light gray undershirt instead of a green hoodie.

Trivia

  • Eduardo's character originated from an online Mario Kart DS game, where Edd would be facing against a Spanish player named Eduardo.
    • Whether or not Edd chose Mario and Eduardo chose Wario is unknown.
  • Eduardo hates Edd by a lot, to the point of where he tries to out-do everything that Edd does.
    • Eduardo is somewhat friendly to Edd after the events of "PowerEdd", after Edd apologized for making fun of him when he got 2nd place in an Art Contest back in school.
      • Additionally, PowerEdd is where the satellite on Eduardo's house comes from.
  • Eduardo's favourite drink is diet cola.
    • This has to do with why they started hating each other, since the cola delivery man mispelled the order, giving Eduardo regular cola and Edd diet cola.
  • Even though it's shown that Eduardo hates Jon, he has been shown to care for him, as seen in "The End (Part 2)", after Tord destroys the neighbors' house, leaving Jon injured, dying after Jon saying "something" in response to Eduardo saying, "Say something! Say something you idiot!"
  • Despite only being able to see half of Eduardo's body in the game, he still has a full character file.
  • He, alongside Tricky, are the only opponents who are not playable characters in Online Play.
  • As of mid-late February 2022, Eduardo has been appearing across the internet as the subject of a meme. The meme usually consists of a clip of a specific song from a mod, then usually before the beat drop, the opponent turns into Eduardo and says, "Well well well", mirroring Eduardo's unexpected entrance during Challeng-Edd.
  • In contrast to Edd's affliction to broccoli, Eduardo is shown to have a fondness for avocado.
  • Online VS. is the first Eddsworld mod to include Eduardo.

Gallery

Were you looking for a different Tord?

I'm UNSTOPPABLE! HA HA HA HA!
― Tord

Tord is a secondary opponent of Challeng-EDD (End Mix). He was a main protagonist in the early days of Eddsworld, later turned main antagonist in "The End". He is the animated counterpart of Tord Larsson. He is the second opponent in the "Fucked" difficulty of Challeng-EDD. Tord is generally portrayed as a trigger-happy hentai addict.

Appearance

Tord appears to be a man with spiky beige hair, a red hoodie over a grey top, dark grey pants, and black and white sneakers. He has a plaster on the left side of his chin. Originally in very early Eddsworld episodes (also known as eddisodes), Tord had a black jacket and dark brown hair. In Challeng-EDD, he wears a Pickelhaube.

Triva

  • Tord's Pickelhaube comes from the eddisode "Moving Targets".
  • Tord hates the song "Sunshine Lollipops".
    • This was first seen in "Hello Hellhole", when Tord goes to his personal hell where he is stuck with a jukebox playing "Sunshine Lollipops".
      • It was seen again in "Ruined", when a speaker plays the song after Tord says "Ok how could THIS get any worse?!".
        • Tord gets visibly angry when Boyfriend sings a segment of this song in Challeng-EDD.
          • It was also referenced in "The End (Part 2)", after Tom says "HEY! SUNSHINE LOLLIPOPS! TAKE A SEAT!", with Tom throwing a sofa. Tord tells him to shut up and fires a rocket at him.
  • Tord likes cigars.
  • Tord is rumored to be the supposed leader of the Red Army or become him in the future.
  • It is unknown if Tord survives the fall at the end of Challeng-EDD.
  • Tord is a Norwegian Communist.
  • Tord falling behind the house with the parachute might be a reference to his rumored cameo in "The Snogre".

Gallery

Mechanics - Health Draining and Missile notes

  • HP Drain: Tord drains health every time he hits a note.
  • Missile Notes: Tord sometimes sends out missile notes towards the player, which insta-kill if missed. They are signaled by a crosshair appearing on one of the strikeline's keys, and move much faster than a regular note.

Trivia

  • The word "challenged" is meant to be punned in the song's title.
    • The term may be used in various contexts, such as when Boyfriend challenges Edd to sing along with him, in which case Edd is "challenged," or when it simply refers to the majority of the inane shenanigans the Eddsworld cast encounters, as reference to the term if used euphemistically.
  • In Challeng-EDD (END Mix), Boyfriend sings a small leitmotif of Lesley Gore's Sunshine, Lollipops And Rainbows in his first turn against Tord.
    • Tord briefly exhibits a plainly irritated expression during the leitmotif, which references the fact that he detests the song.
      • In one part of the Eddsworld episode, "Hello Hellhole," he was seen trying to turn off the jukebox which was playing the song.
  • Both versions of Challeng-EDD have the opening music from the Eddsworld series, and also a part of Norway from the Tord mod (by BBpanzu).
  • Challeng-EDD is one of the few songs to have the events within it change based on difficulty.
    • On top of this, it is the first challenge where the main opponent teams up with Boyfriend to defeat a secondary opponent. The second is Anywhere, U.S.A, which also changes the events depending on the difficulty.
  • Prior to a patch, pressing 8 during the song will cause it to instantly end. No other challenge was like this.
  • Eduardo's lines from Challeng-EDD (NeighBORES Mix) are from the episode Hammer & Fail (Part 1) and (Part 2), and Tord and Tom's lines from the End Mix are from the episode The End (Part 2).
  • The harpoon that pierces the Tordbot is accidentally shown to be fired from the back, even though Tom aimed from the front.
    • This is probably due to the fact that in The End (Part 2) Tom fired the harpoon from the back, and the artists most likely referenced it off of that.
  • Jon's idle animation is titled "JohnChallengeIdle" despite his official name being Jon.
  • This is the only Eddsworld mod to get acknowledged by the current producers of Eddsworld, albeit through the "Well Well Well" meme.

Roadkill

The Roadkill event is part of the third timed challenge to come out for the Online VS mod. The challenge is based off of TANKMEN 2, [1] an animation by the well-known Newgrounds user JohnnyUtah. It was released in Update 0.4.5, along with the Anywhere, USA challenge. In this challenge, Captain "John" Tankman has to fend off the Thugmen, while his best friend Steve drives the signature tank.

Completing the challenge normally will reward the player with a playable Thugman.
Completing the challenge in "Fucked" will reward the player with Steve.

Overview

While out with at a bar, Tankman and Steve accidentally manage to anger the Thugmen after beating them in finger-football. The Thugmen chase after the two Tankmen in their own makeshift vehicle with 2 speakers attached. After an intense chase (and running over Private Skittle's watchtower), Steve manages to shoot one of the Sportguys in the head, and use a throwing knife to kill the other.

Characters

We want a rematch, mate!
― Sportsmen, TANKMEN 2

The Sportsmen are the main antagonists of Tankmen 2. They are the main opponents of Roadkill.

Appearance

Both Sportsmen wear sports armor akin to football jerseys, fit with spikes on their shoulder pads. The main Sportsman wears a hockey mask with six holes near the mouth and two near the forehead, and his hair is short and a bit unkempt. He wears the same black boots & gloves the Tankmen wear, and also has a hockey stick on his back. The other Sportsman wears a football helmet with two vertical and one horizontal white line.

The Sportsmen are seen on their makeshift vehicle, which appears to be a six-wheeler truck. It has padded windows, a catapult attached to the back, headlights near its front wheels, speakers on both sides of the windshield, and a bull skull right under it.

My gun is jammed!
― Tankman, TANKMEN 2

Appearance

Tankman is a soldier with a monochromatic color scheme; his helmet, uniform, gloves, pants and boots are black, while his skin, goggles and vest are white. On both of his arms are white corporal insignias, which distinguish him from the rest of the Tankmen soldiers. He appears sitting on his tank, driven by Steve, while holding a gun on his hand.

You should've used the Pythagorean Theorem, bitch.
― Steve, TANKMEN 2

The challenge is based off of Alien Hominid, [2] an incredibly popular series created by Tom Fulp, the founder of Newgrounds. It was released in Update 0.4.5, along with the Roadkill challenge. In this challenge, Alien Hominid crash-lands on Earth while Boyfriend and Girlfriend are enjoying a milkshake together. BF will have to help Alien Hominid from being captured by the FBI!

Completing the challenge normally will reward the player with a playable Alien Hominid.
Completing the challenge in "Fucked" will reward the player with the Fat Kid.

Overview

Boyfriend and Girlfriend are out on a date, enjoying a milkshake together. Suddenly, a UFO crash lands right in front of them! The FBI is quick to take away the evidence, and try to capture the extraterrestrial, but he's nimble enough to rap and shoot on the go! Boyfriend needs to keep up with him to make sure he's safe.

Characters

Alien Hominid is the main protagonist of his titular series, Alien Hominid created by The Behemoth. They are the 1st opponent for Anywhere, USA. During the 2nd segment, they are a supporting character.

Appearance

The alien takes the form of a short humanoid creature with yellow skin and large eyes, as well as antenna of the same color. He wields his usual ray gun with a microphone implemented near the end of the barrel.

Trivia

  • Rather then staying put in their song, the Alien instead moves towards the right and begins vanquishing their enemies using his weapons, forcing Boyfriend to catch up so he won't go off camera. Girlfriend on the other hand simply scrolls by as the 2 move forwards with the enemies also trying to get Alien Hominid.
    • This is one of the 1st mods where both the opponent and the player move positions.

Install Ball is the 1st boss of Alien Hominid and the final opponent for Anywhere, USA.

Appearance

Install Ball is a small, green, eye-like object. It is protected by a suit of bulky, top heavy mechanical armor on legs with a pair of spike-covered arms. It turns red when singing, showing a white ring in its iris. Girlfriend is tied to it with rope.

Trivia

  • During the second half of the song, it stays in the center of the screen as it sings. This, combined with Girlfriend being attached to its armor and what appears to be an audio output next to her, means it could be seen as an equivalent to her speakers.
  • Install Ball doesn't have an icon that matches its face. Instead it's a Boss icon that almost references the boss icons in Alien Hominid game.

Tankmen

An image from the original TANKMEN

TANKMEN is a series of animated shorts created and released on Newgrounds by user JohnnyUtah, inspired by the design of the Newgrounds logo itself. The series is based around the lives of the Tankmen, a military group surviving in an apocalyptic wasteland, and encounters they have with other military groups and people in general. The primary stars are the captain of the Tankmen, Captain, and him comrade Steve, though episodes do dedicate some screen time to rival groups.

The first episode released in 2006, and three more episodes, TANKMEN 1.5, TANKMEN 2, and TANKMEN 0.5, would release over the next two years. The series became an immediate hit, and is well known for its humorous take on war, its crude humor and the "cock jokes" it likes to make. Various parodies and fanmade sequels spawned as a result, and Captain would be seen as one of the main mascots of Newgrounds alongside Pico.

See here for the official episode

Despite Steve winning multiple times, the Thugmen constantly demand rematches, until Steve shoots one of them to make a point about the the sports gear they wear as armor. Meanwhile, Captain is being told a story by a sniper, which eventually gets cut short when the sniper gets knifed in the back as Captain & Steve are forced to flee.

Cut to a vehicle battle between the Tankmen and the Thugmen. After a bit of back and forth about Captain forgetting about Steve's birthday (turns out he didn't forget but just doesn't care), Steve convinces the Thugmen to play a "manly" game to settle the battle. Steve uses the game as a chance for him to sneak onto the Thugmen' vehicle and assassinate one of them, with Captain shooting the other in the face with a cannonball moments later, saying that that kill is Steve's birthday present.
