Reason: Cereal Guy, in his third song, "Choke-A-Lot", as well as Trolljak, can make some unsettling facial expressions, Trolljak's second set of sprites in "Alert" have him losing pretty much all of his face while the city in the background burns. IFU has a frightening appearance in general. If Trollface loses in Reunion, he turns into a Trollge and can be unsettling. Friday Night Crunchin' is a mod created by Grossalicious that has Boyfriend go up against the Cereal Guy, Trollface and the Epic Face from the Rage Comics. The mod currently has nine songs, plus six bonus songs in the Freeplay menu, with 5 being part of the PURGATORY sideline.

Gameplay Mechanics[]

  • During Choke-A-Lot, if you hit the cereal notes, milk will temporarily block the view of the player's lane.
  • During Doubt and Hope, there are blue notes that decrease the scroll speed once missed.
  • Throughout the Epic Face week, notes with Epic Face's face will appear. Hitting these will gradually increase a meter shown on the right. As a result, a crowd will appear over the strike, growing taller the higher the meter gets, making it more difficult to see the incoming notes. If the player hits enough, an epic face will appear, moving around and humping the air, potentially distracting the player. The meter and crowd progressively lower over time so long as no more Epic Face notes are hit.
    • The same crowd appears towards the end of Last Course, however in this case it isn't an obstruction as they are layered behind the notes.
  • After reaching a certain point in Legacy and Rumor, the opponent's strumline will lose visibility.
  • In Rumor, the timer displays a false length of 2 minutes and 33 seconds. As soon as the timer reaches the end, the timer will displays random larger values before correcting itself, this time showing the true remaining length of the song.
  • If the player loses on Rattled, the game will quickly go through a disturbing image sequence before closing itself.
  • At around the 0:47 mark in YOLO, Like A Boss will pull out a revolver and begin firing at Roach. At this point, a fifth, circular note receptor will appear between those of the down and up notes, similar to Vs. Sonic.Exe's ring mechanic in Triple Trouble. Players must hit the red target notes that appear to dodge Like A Boss' bullets. If the player misses the targets then the player will lose some healthpoints.

Trivia (General)[]

  • In the official .FLP file for Legacy, soundfonts from several games, notably Undertale by Toby Fox and Touhou Project by ZUN, are used in the song itself.
  • iFunny appears as a dreaded hellscape due to its lack of moderation and shocking content. The website is also considered a prison for containing dangerous memes.
  • Rumor is currently the hardest song in the mod, having more notes and denser charting than the majority of the mod's songs.
  • The breakdown in Rumor contains no vocals, the charted notes are actually from the instrumental.
  • The developers refer to the war that Trollface and Forever Alone served in as "The Flame War".[2]
    • Flame wars in the real world are described as long-lasting arguments over the internet.
  • In the next few updates, memes and other internet phenomena will be added, such as Providence, which has been teased in a video by one of the main composers, churgney gurgney, at the 46 second mark of his 420 subscriber celebration video.
    • Providence in the said video stated, "We have to keep waiting; he must journey through Purgatory before entering our gates."
  • With iFunny being a literal Hell and Rumor seemingly taking place in Purgatory, it is most likely that the setting where players will come across and battle Providence will be based off of Heaven.
    • This is further supported by the fact that the first teased Providence song is literally named Heaven.
  • There are two storylines in the mod that will intersect, with Ifu being "a small piece in the second story, but not small enough to be minor or insignificant".[3]
  • This mod shares a song name with Friday Night Funkin': Soft and Vs. Kyu, that being Hope.
  • Alert originally started as a fan song before being picked up by the team.
  • If the player stays in the credits long enough whilst viewing Neutroa's message, an image of Shrek will slowly fade into view. Eventually, he will roar and close the game.
  • One of the buildings in the background of Alert may be Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated.
  • Every version of the mod so far has been released on the 20th day of its respective month.
  • The City Nights update released on Crunchin's 3rd anniversary of the original release, Vs. Cereal Guy.

Leitmotifs[]

  • The instrumental for "Last Course" contains leitmotifs to Caramelldansen.
  • Both "Smile" and "Order Up" contain leitmotifs to Dragostea Din Tei.
  • "Legacy" contains a vocal leitmotif to "Manifest" from vs Sky during the 2:45-2:50 minute mark.
  • "Legacy" contains leitmotifs to "Expurgation" from The Full Ass Tricky Mod, "help_urself" by Ezekiel, and even includes a sound clip of the Hog Rider from the mobile game Clash of Clans uttering his signature battle cry.
  • The instrumental for "Rumor" contains leitmotifs to Dreamscape and you are an idiot.
